Trip Chowdhry, an analyst with tiny Global Equities Research, contends that 7 minutes of the June 7 keynote by Apple CEO Steve Jobs has been blocked off for a presentation by Microsoft to talk about Visual Studio 2010, the company’s suite of development tools. Chowdhry says the new version of VS will allow developers to write native applications for the iPhone, iPad and Mac OS. And here’s the kicker: he thinks Microsoft’s presentation could be given by none other than Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.

After purchasing Tweetie, Twitter has now rebranded the app and released it as the official Twitter app for the iPhone. Looks and behaves just like Tweetie, with the added functionality of signing up for a Twitter account directly in the app, something other Twitter app developers cannot do.
The latest beta release of iPhone OS 4.0 now includes a configuration screen to setup internet tethering with AT&T. It's assumed that AT&T will finally allow tethering for its customers after the official release of iPhone OS 4.0 this summer.

Surprising nobody, Apple rejected the Wi-Fi Sync app that would allow users to sync to their iTunes library wirelessly. It is available for $9.99 on Cydia, which means you'll need to jailbreak your iPhone.
First, this makes it pretty clear that this will be the next iPhone. Second, why can't Apple keep these under control?

Brings the first sign of widget style functionality to control the iPod app (or other third party music apps?). Since there have been no releases of iPhone OS 4 for the iPad, this widget functionality could be expanded to bring back Weather, Stocks and other missing iPhone apps to the iPad.

Apple has finally announced the dates for WWDC this year, and it is only a little over a month away. Also of note is that there will be ten total Apple Design Award winners, split evenly between iPhone and iPad apps, none for Mac OS X.

Based on the state of the current release of the SDK, I don't think Apple will be accepting iPad apps into the store for day one launch.
Google has finally updated the mobile version of the Google Voice site to now function like a true web app. While it's still no native app, it looks and functions much better than it used to.
The Android platform is a much bigger threat to Apple than anything Microsoft can introduce in the mobile phone market. In the meantime, Apple is also purportedly working on their own search offering for the future.
