Clamcase Laptop-Like Shell for the iPad

Clamcase for the iPad isn't the best name for a product, but this promises to turn your iPad into a laptop with an integrated bluetooth keyboard.

Boy Genius Report Details New iPhone OS 4.0 Beta 3 Features

Brings the first sign of widget style functionality to control the iPod app (or other third party music apps?). Since there have been no releases of iPhone OS 4 for the iPad, this widget functionality could be expanded to bring back Weather, Stocks and other missing iPhone apps to the iPad.

iPad Prices Could Change

Apple seemed to indicate it would respond with price cuts if demand for the device wasn’t revving up the way it liked.

Maybe all the naysayers who want to wait for the 2nd generation iPad were on to something.

iPhone-to-iPad Development

Marco Arment:

The problem, of course, is that before day one, we won’t have iPads ourselves for development and testing.

Steve Jobs:

If you annualize our quarterly revenue, it's surprising that Apple is now a $50+ billion company. The new products we are planning to release this year are very strong, starting this week with a major new product that we're really excited about.

Kindle Development Kit

Amazon announces a Kindle Development Kit (KDK) with a familiar 70/30 revenue split. You can't actually get the KDK until next month, and even then it will be limited. So why announce it now? Perhaps the same reason every PC manufacturer is announcing tablet computers before January 27th.

Apple January Event Becomes Official

Apple has finally confirmed a January 27th event by sending out invitations to see their "latest creation." Engadget speculates that paint splatter on the invitation could mean a tablet that is geared towards "art, music, and movie-making." I think paint splatter simply shows that Apple views this tablet as their pièce de résistance.

Apple Sends Cease and Desist to Valleywag

This week Valleywag offered up an ill-conceived bounty for anyone who could produce real pictures of the rumored Apple tablet. After receiving a cease and desist letter from Apple, they continue the childish game by proclaiming Attorney Michael C. Spillner the first "winner."
